DIGITAL MUSIC DISTRIBUTION
How does digital distribution work?
Streaming and digital platforms are the new record shops. But music distribution no longer takes weeks and months. Today, digital distribution quickly gets your music on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and other major music services. And you make money – royalties – every time someone streams, downloads, or buys your music.
Who is eligible for digital distribution?
All users with a management, label, or artist agreement are eligible to use the Digital Distribution service.
Must I own or control the rights to the music I submit?
Yes, when you submit music you represent that you own, or have licensed all rights relating to this submitted material. This includes rights related to compositions, sound recordings, artwork, images, trademarks, and publicity rights.
Am I losing rights to my music when I submit it for Digital Distribution?
No, you are merely granting us the right to Digitally Distribute your recordings and to otherwise use the recordings to the extent necessary to facilitate the Digital Distribution on your behalf.
When do I get paid my royalties from Digital Retailers?
Each retailer reports their sales activities at different intervals (monthly vs quarterly, etc.) Therefore, in any given month you could see sales reported that actually occurred months prior. As we receive this information, we use all commercially reasonable efforts to provide it to you as soon as possible. On the rare occasion that your sales information and money are posted late, it will likely be due to delays in reporting from the stores. Most payments are received once per month and provide information from the month that ended roughly 60-75 days prior. For example, if you receive sales in January, they will be reported in April.
